Music
Software and music come from the same place. I have never been able to not make things, and these are two of the ways it gets out.
I compose and produce. It is not a sideline from the day job so much as the same instinct in a different material — start with nothing, decide what the thing wants to be, then spend a long time removing everything that is not it.
YouTube and SoundCloud have everything, including covers and remixes. The streaming services carry my own compositions, plus the covers I hold a licence for.
Why it is on this site at all
Because leaving it off would misrepresent the work. The instinct that makes someone sit with a piece of music until it is right is the same one that refuses to ship enterprise software people hate using. I have spent twenty-five years arguing that every user deserves an exceptional experience, including the ones who did not choose the software and cannot leave. That argument is easier to make honestly if you make things yourself.
