This Turkish proverb resonates deeply with me, especially since becoming a father. No matter how many times I warned my children about potential dangers or pitfalls, they often had to learn the hard way. Experience really is the greatest teacher.
The same principle applies in our professional lives. Wisdom isn't handed down — it's earned through trial and error. Reflecting on a twenty-five-year career, I've realised that I'm pretty good at giving people room to fail. I guide them based on my own experiences, but ultimately I let them chart their own course and learn at their own pace.
