Scary Friday thought on the future of work:
Today, we're augmenting people with AI. In the future, we'll be augmenting AI with people.
The faster the AI revolution accelerates, the more I hear scientists and thought leaders say that's where we are headed — ten, twenty, maybe thirty years from now. It's a scary thought, isn't it? Well, if they are right, we'll get one chance to build that future, so we've got to get it right.
In any case or scenario that they put forward, I keep coming back to this: creativity plus data will be the differentiator.
Together, they'll be the fuel that drives not just innovation but the right innovation — the kind that solves complex problems we cannot yet comprehend.
To point AI at the right problem, we will need creativity, so I believe creativity will be more valuable. The things we take for granted, like our intuition, emotion, and even gut instinct, will become more valuable too.
And to power it all, we'll need lots of data. Data that is real and true, not fabricated, is already getting more expensive. Owning vast amounts of it will be really valuable.
I find myself thinking this more often lately. And I conclude we better invest in both creativity and data, now.
